A Toast, to the journey ahead!
One of true luxuries that I allow myself is the gift of travel. Although I lived briefly in Paris, it was my first trip to Italy that stole my heart. I have no problems traveling alone because I know that I will meet interesting people on the journey. This beautiful video by Nick Seaton made for Toast, has me yearning to pack my bags yet again for another adventure. Perhaps they can pack for me with these lovely pieces from their Fall 2010 collection.

Lace is starting to appear in the most interesting places. Lace is distinctly feminine, sexy and romantic. Perhaps that's why I happen to love these items...

Native New Yorkers
Recently I dropped into the de Castellane Gallery in Brooklyn only to discover the Brian Bell and Linn Edwards curated Non-Native New York exhibit. The show is comprised of art created by immigrant artists who now reside in New York. Speaking with Linn and Brian I realized that like their selected artists, they too are what makes New York so exceptional, it's the courage of the people who live out their dreams and share the experience with others. The show ends this Sunday - get there if you can! This was one of my favorite pieces btw, made entirely of balloons by an artist named Olek.

Woman Loves Man Who Shops Globe!:)
As a renaissance woman, I believe in living out all of your dreams - we do have many yes? I'd like to think that I have and am still doing just that. God has blessed me with a terrific career - I've been a designer, creative director, model, producer, publicist, event planner, worked in film, fashion, design, television and even finance. While at the Today Show I worked on incredible stories ranging from the Tsunami to going to the Oscars, in Finance I stood at the 18th hole when Tiger Woods(pre scandal:)) won his first Masters, in Fashion, I did PR for Ralph Lauren and others who were at the top of their game, - so why am I now having a bit of job envy? Well, have you seen Man Shops Globe? Basically, Keith Johnson travels the world looking for great designs - in the words of stylist Rachel Zoe - I DIE! Shopping for Anthropologie, Keith finds some of the best artisans and crafts people in the world in the most beautifully exotic locales. MSG (there's nothing artificial about this show), airs on Wednesday nights on the Sundance Channel. Keith - call me!

Res!

I was just cleaning out some old emails and came across one that my brother sent me with a link to one of our favorite singers Res. Res is one of the most talented black female artists of our times. She falls into a group of black female artists - (some male too) who because of their range in music and style, the record labels have no category for them and therefore, cannot do their typical cookie cutter marketing of their music. It's unfortunate that labels can continue to churn out the Lady GaGa's and artists of similar ilk. I mention Lady GaGa because she too started out as a talented musician who was not recognized until she put on this persona that is a cross between Grace Jones, LaBelle, Cher, Elton John and Madonna. The audience has to demand quality - in all things! Trust me, if we stop buying garbage, they'll be forced to stop churning it out. Here are a couple of her videos - I hope that she makes a strong comeback!
Her most recent one...
